Last year, the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) already received the bronze label in the first phase of the FISU Healthy Campus programme, and it will soon be revealed whether it will achieve platinum certification this year.

In 2023, the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) joined the Healthy Campus programme launched in 2020 by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The programme aims to improve the health and well-being of university staff, students, and in HUSS’s case, even residents in the surrounding area.

As it is known, HUSS made excellent progress in the Healthy Campus programme, earning the bronze certification in the first stage. Naturally, the university’s goal is to achieve the highest level, platinum, which requires meeting many additional criteria.

FISU auditors decide on whether a university qualifies for a higher rating — they are the ones who assess whether the institution has met the conditions necessary to advance. On May 22 and 23, Ivo Carvalho, FISU’s health coordinator, visited HUSS to conduct the standard review, which in this case will determine whether HUSS can be awarded the highest, platinum certification.

Ivo was welcomed by HUSS lecturer Dr Gyöngyvér Lacza, who is the local coordinator of the programme. In the university’s latest podcast, they are sharing information with us about the Healthy Campus programme, experiences from the evaluation process, campus life, best practices, and much more.
